Re: constipation, peristalsis, breathing etc

Thank you both for your reply.

I'll probably try it for a month, then switch to P&B shakes. I was worried about peristalsis, because I'm working hard at the moment to keep my guts moving with lots of fibre, no dairy, Sugar & meat and daily treatments of reflexology.

I have daily bms, but suffer from acne, PCOS and -perhaps- two of the great mysteries illnesses of our times: candida & moderate adrenal fatigue (emotional stress is the probable culprit). Sometimes I may have 2 bms a day, and rarely up 3, but other times I might skip a day, so then I'll usually do an enema. This however has only been my regimen over the past year, I have 26 years of crap to clean up yet, 'scuse the language! :P

Generally, my guts tend to grind to a halt when I'm stressed; like many people with a tendency towards constipation I've noticed I clench my lower abs and breath shallowly when insecure. Breathing is underrated in this forum, I think -- how you breath greatly affects your intestines, if they are clenched you're sending a message to hold stuff in, just try & relax your solar plexus, you'll notice a big difference down there!

It's a shame, but I put a lot of my tension down to a skewed self image. We women especially, are always trying to achieve that washboard look, instead of accepting the natural roundness of our bellies. Although a 9-months pregnant belly probably indicates IBS & not natural curvature, I suspect that a lot of cases of bloating are a reverse message from our body to lighten up and accept a different image than what society is trying to ram down our throats. Now that I've started letting my muscles relax, I bet you any money that the psychological factor behind my bloating will start to melt away.

Sorry to ramble on like this, I've had these thoughts for quite a while & just thought I'd share. Keep up the good work! :)
