Re: New guy: started Bp/psyll shake 3 days ago want advise
Gas and rumbling is very common in the early stages of the cleanse...caused by a combination of softening and loosening mucoid plaque....and also the increase in fiber that makes the bowel muscle work harder.
If you're using whole husk psyllium...use 1 Tablespoon per shake along with 1 Tablespoon of liquid bentonite. If you're using powdered psyllium, use 1 teaspoon per shake...but continue to use 1 Tablespoon of bentonite. You may find that the increased
Bentonite helps to absorb some of the toxins that are being stirred up.
Also, you may need to increase your number of daily shakes more gradually...this is often the case with people who experience a lot of gas and bloating...their system is just not accustomed to that much fiber and needs time to adjust to it. Remeber that....besides sweeping the walls of the intestines...the fiber also provides an internal resistance exercise for the colon as the bowel muscle works against the increased bulk. This is a very good thing as it helps to strengthen the muscle and improve peristalsis...but it can also be quite taxing if it is pushed to work too hard too fast!
And the 'chunks' are most likely from the increase in fiber...if you are sure that they are not pieces of mucoid plaque. Remember that the old gunk can be many textures and colors...from sticky bubble-gum to hard tire rubber, some smooth and shiny, some with grooves or swirls in it, some in pieces, some in long ropes, some that looks like a hunk of your colon has just fallen out!...only green, black, gray, dark brown or amber. And be patient...it can take several weeks for some people to begin passing it.
