Re: What about Pyrex...

HI! Schluggell,
When I was making the tea some years ago,I used a stainles steal pot, 4 gal. size with a wooden spoon for stiring. Every thing that I used was dedicated JUST for making kombucha tea. I let it ferment in suntea gal. jars with the little spicket on the bottom of the jar, which made it easy to put into snap-cap bottles for storage until ready for use. While the tea was making,I put 1-2 coffee filters over the top of the gal.jars, held in place with rubber bands,so the SCOBY could breath,I had the tea in a spare bedroom sitting on a dresser on a heating pad set on very low.
SCOBY= SYMBIOTIC CULTURE OF BACTERIA AND YEAST. After each making (I usually took my tea up after 7-8 days) I would have a new baby. In a few months I had so many I couldn't give them away. People around here didn't want to fool with it so I finally stoped making it also. But once I sell my home and move back to GEORGIA I want to try it again. I still have 5 of the sun tea jars that I am using to hold energized water. Just remember whatever you use to make your tea should be used just for making your tea only, and be kept ever, very clean.
Sincerely I C L
