Raider's daughter, etc.,.....
Hi Raider, I'm so sorry to hear that you and your family have been going through such rough times. Certainly from the way you described it, this young man's behavior is akin to breaking the marriage covenant, which is a lot more than just sexual infidelity.
I do not for one minute think that God wants any of us in abusive yokes of bondage, so He is either going to miraculously fix it (which He can), or release her to a life of peace.
In any caase, our prayers will be with you and yours for God's touch and healing.
As far as the first response that this message received, we have to remember that Curezone is read all over the world, although the majority of the people who actually post here are from either North America or Britain. Many countries have entirely different ideas regarding divorce and remarriage than we do. For instance, in Italy, divorce was not legalized until 1970, and not generally recognized until about five years later. In the meantime, the Roman Catholic church has always fought against the idea of divorce and even recently, the Pope made some sharp comments against the practice, sending many Italians to protest. Many countries with strong Catholic backgrounds, are still socially antagonistic to the idea of ~any~ kind of divorce, even if the law books allow it. Hence, some of the posts we receive reflect those thoughts.
Divorce is never an easy prospect, and these days as another sign of the end times, we have many cases of people who marry for all the wrong reasons and then are not to be able to hang on to their marriages. But in all things, we have to determine what God's will is for each individual situation. God deals wth each one of us iniquely, and although His word expresses His will for all, His grace also covers all our shortcomings, and He alone can read a heart and know all things.
When the church fails to use the discernment necessary to know how God thinks on a situation, it is only proof that the organizaton is moving by man made ideas rather than the living God.
