Re: Decisions on root canal treatment

Hi there,

Your situation is very similar to mine! I am a woman in my early 30's and have one painful gutta percha RC from 3 yrs ago. I have one that was root treated 6 weeks ago, initially with gutta percha. I have just had it re-filled with biocalex / endocal by o holistic dentist. The molar tooth next to it has been declared 'dead' in one of the canals although the other 2 canals are still hanging on. I have not had this one root treated yet. I am trying to save it with a flouride filling, herbs, vitamins (including C at least 1000mg day) and rest. I have read The Roots of all Disease book (eeek!) which basically informs us that there are no sterile root canal proceedures available yet as no substance can penetrate the tubules in the dentine where anaerobic bacteria continue to flourish despite the best root filling possible. Teeth need there inner pulp to keep them alive and clean. When they have no pulp, they cannot function as living teeth and keep themselves clean. It is best to read the book to get the full information.

I am thinking that I will try to keep my own teeth with biocalex fill until I get any symptoms of ill health happening too often. I have no idea if this is taking too much of a risk? There is heart disease in my family but I work out in the gym to improve immunity and eat organic as much as possible. If I have all these roots pulled, I will have significant gaps and in my 30's I want to be confident in my appearance! I do not yet have the financial resources to get good bridges made or metal free implants. I never expected such big decisions on my health so soon into my life! It feels like, extract your teeth or die! at the moment but I intend to not go to extremes yet. I need to be prepared for the extractions if and when they happen. I would also like to acknowledge the impact that all these dental troubles have on our emotional well being. It is upsetting and I feel empathy for what people are going through and find it helpful to read about other's experiences.
