Re: Just Classics: Citizen Kane

LOL! Actually, I don't consider myself a chick flick kind of girl, I just like Jane Austen, the cast and the director and I'm a sucker for beautiful cinematography, especially when England or Italy are involved. :) I'm much more likely to go to the big popcorn type movies - I rate films as to whether they're a must-see in the theater type, wait for video, or wait until cable. :)

And that's so true about expectations! I try to remain easy to please because I really don't want to lose the fun of the movie going experience. I like Roger Ebert because even after years and years he can still get excited over fun films.

So I guess it would depend on your mood. If you want wicked dark comedy and social commentary go for Heathers or Election. Both are great conversation starters. :) Last of the Mohicans is an awesome movie in scope, cinematography, action, story and emotions. I'd love to meet Michael Mann someday. The Sting is the best Redford/Newman flick really, with Robert Shaw being the real draw. And you HAVE to see Annie Hall, if only to see Jeff Goldblum speak his immortal one liner, "I forgot my mantra." LOL!

I meant the Steve McQueen great escape, the prison breakout? John sturgis, not hitch. :)

Oh and I meant to say, did you know that Wells doesn't consider Kane his best film? He thinks Magnificent Ambersons is his finest achievement. He credits the controversy over Hearst trying to get the film banned as the reason why it's remembered to this day. Just a fun factoid. :)
