If you need to lose weight, I'd do so, as this seems to add fuel to the fire, as well as cut down on meats, etc...anything that adds estrogen. Look at above books, and posts. I would really seek a second opinion...bring your test results, MRI's etc and call around (ask over phone) to find an MD (if that is what you are comfortable with) who only looks at sugery as a last resort...I think the lupron injection gives you some time to work on your health and call around for assistance in your health goals. If your not bad anemic, but just uncomfortable heavy/clotting periods, I would not have surgery...especially if you have no health risk with the fibroids...eg...pushing on other organs or lab tests are off. Look at Christine Northrup's book (holistic MD/gyn)on Women's bodies, women's wisdom and others (progesterone book by John Lee that has alot of info besides progesterone on health and diet as it is co-authored by a holisitc OB/GYN. If you are in a bigger or progressive city it is easy to find a nice integrated practitioner, but the books are a great guide...need to do a lot of lifestyle changes. Good Luck to you!! Loree
