I use lye ( sodium carbonate) for almost evrything. It is a great cleaning product, cheap and odorless, however , it does not kill many germs, so you may want to use H2O2 (Hydrogen-Peroxid) too. but IMO there is no such need to sterilize everything. Strong germ killers actually promote the growth of resistant strains. Hygiene means simple cleanliness, if you just use lye and a lot of water to rinse, you're already on the safe side.
If you are strong and your IS is not compromised by strong chemicals ( such as the ones you are currently using), your body dos defend itself pretty well.
