Re: coconut oil does work, although there seems to be some COCO-CONFUSION
np. I wipe a little oil down in those regions every day as a preventative step. It's good for the skin and all too, so can't hurt. I was taking the LAURICIDIN every day for awhile as a preventative as well, because it is such a powerful anti-viral that it is good to have in the body for general good health and strong immunity. But I stopped taking it recently and will probably not do so again until the next outbreak.
I also take L-Lysine(1000 mgs) 2 or 3 times a day and make sure my body remains 'alkaline'. I am a firm believer that acidosis, becoming overly acidic from crap food, coffee, soda, excessive alcohol, etc, is the root to many of our health disorders (and certainly outbreaks). I take bob barefoots coral cacium "supreme" every day for this. I monitor my pH with litmus paper to make sure I am always in the alkaline realm.
Beyond this, I just try to remain as healthy as possible and assure that my immune system is strong. plenty of fruits and veggies, exercise, vitamins, etc.
The last time I started to get an outbreak (itchiness, red swelling beginning) I applied the coconut oil to it a few times a day and it did not develop into a full outbreak. It was gone in a few days. But granted, I also boosted the coral calcium and other immune enhancing activities at the same time.
I also don't drink. Gave it up cuz it seemed to be a DIRECT trigger.
I've only had it for 1.5 years. For the first 6 months or so, it was ridiculous.. pretty much a chronic outbreak the whole time. But then I got my health in order and they have essentially disappeared.
As much as it sucks having herpes, it is a remarkable barometer of your current state of health..
For me it has kind of been a blessing in disguise because I am healthier than I have ever been and feel great. :)
Hope this helps,
