Re: Heb B vaccine - could my symptoms be side effects
Hi,
In 2003 I visited the nurse at my surgery and she told me that as I handle bodily fluids I need the hep b vaccine (I worked in a creche) so I agreed to have the course of injections and have since been unwell. Since having the 2nd vaccine I have suffered fatigue after doing something that used to be so simple, dizzyness, forgetfulness, waking up several times during the night, my sleep patturn is all over the place, aching ankles, knees, hips, muscles. Sometimes I cannot get out of bed and I spend 5-6 days a week stuck at home as I am in too much pain or too tired to go out for a walk. I have to use a wheelchair when I want to go out and I find this really embarrassing as I used to walk everywhere.
I went to my doctor and he carried out 45 different tests for iron levels, thyroid, diabetes right through to testing me for cancer and all the tests came back negative. I was then referred to a doctor at the local hospital who told me I was depressed. I knew I wasnt depressed as I had suffered
Depression many years ago and these symptoms were completely different. I took a course of anti-depressents so that
Depression could be ruled out (which is was, I knew I wasnt depressed).
My g.p. eventually diagnosed me with M.E./C.F.S. and I am currently seeing a specialist at the M.E. Centre in Essex. The specialist has stated in her report that it was the Hep B vaccine that caused my M.E./C.F.S.
I have been unable to work since I had my 2nd vaccine (september 2004) and I am so angry because I was told that I needed this vaccine to protect me whilst I was at work and now I have had to give up the job I loved doing. I was not told of any side effects.
My advice to you is to research the hep b vaccine on the net. There are so many people who have suffered after having this vaccine. Research suggests that I have a 90% chance of not recovering because my M.E./C.F.S. was caused by vaccination.
I hope that you get better soon.
Diane.
