Re: An Aha! message to top them all!
***If we hurt ourselves in some way, the body produces 'feel good' substances.***
***If, instead, we give the body the best cleansing, and the best nutrition we can discover, the need to 'hurt' ourselves disappears. We feel truly 'good'.***
These seem to be true statements, although it also seems that cleansing and better nutrition also take us to the 'next layer of the onion' that requires our attention.
It is true, for sure, that we need to stop 'hurting' ourselves.
It also seems to be definitely true that the body 'knows' what is best, even though the brain may not yet have figured out all the details.
Those who once had compulsions tell us that the compulsions disappeared when they started their cleansing/nutrition journeys.
To me, that's very good news, indeed!
I know that the beginnings of cleansing and nutrition I've made so far are very satisfying. It is now easy for me to accept a wholesome meal, a small meal, a small fast, an activity, a meditative rest, more of cleaner water, a small cleansing, more regular habits, avoiding certain substances, as enjoyable...not a hardship...my preference.
Maybe these changes, to date, were my Step One. Maybe, as Chiron points out, we grow tired of the same old same old...and feel better doing better.
Maybe Step Two lies in releasing more of the 'restrictions', those little rules we set against ourselves, and 'allowing' ourselves to try more.
