Dear Alison,
What a thinker you are! And so generous! I know it takes a great deal to 'expose' one's thoughts and feelings on the 'Net. Many read here and would not dream of posting, even if they had success.
That's just how it is. We who can, do...hoping that what we mean to say will help another.
I read somewhere on the 'Net (from a link on CureZone) that Lyme dis-ease is likely caused by parasites. If that is true in any one particular case, that would explain
Sugar cravings.
When I was once dieting (my own version of Weight Watchers + 'improved' food choices), I'd be working late and alone in my grocery store and get a sudden demand for sugar. Not in one minute, immediately! I think I could easily have taken a bite out of my desk if there had been nothing else!
A popular idea bandied about for years is that, when we 'diet', the liver becomes depleted of 'body sugar' needed to supply the brain. Therefore the sudden need of sugar, and some momentary dizziness.
Then again, there are some who claim that a tendency to diabetes can be overcome. I'm still working on that one, and questioning my need for fruit, which I've not particularly loved, except for seasonal feasts from time to time. I find apples, and sometimes citrus, and tart plums, difficult to swallow. A little cooked and sweetened applesauce has been nice, a few times in the past.
Today we keep mostly to small amounts of stevia, and/or a little drizzle of pure blackstrap molasses. Still, I give in to a bakery sweet, say, once a week or two...less and less frequently.
I'm discovering that there are hidden natural sources of MSG, too! ...Like tomatoes!
Smoking counteracts candida?! How very interesting! And someone else said that candida hates exercise and sunshine. There's food for thought there.
I also agree with you about "auto immune" diseases, and I think your psychotherapist friend is also a smart cookie. (That's my highest term of praise.)
Alison, I'm trying to put together a whole theory and plan for well-being. Piece by piece it comes to me. I can't tell you how important I feel is your evidence. To me, it is a key.
I also can't forget that some say laughter is very important... the action of laughter, even when nothing funny is going on. You may have read this story before, but they say that one seriously ill man got himself kicked out of hospital, for disturbing the other patients. His laughter must have worked because they don't kick you out of hospital unless you are somewhat improved.
Too, there is a wonderful feeling of calmness, warmth, and well-being from reflexology and Touch for Health. Sometimes I can nearly achieve this with self-treatment. I really like exhaling gently and deeply, especially on the effort part of an exercise movement. I have a Gazelle glider on my porch.
I have high hopes for the Doyletics quick age regression exercise.

Be well, Alison, and your sisters.
