Re: macular degenerationHi and sun-gazing: strangers?
I like very much what Bates says about resting the eyes...>>that people assume resting them means turning off the TV, or he monitor, and they always ask if the eyes aren't rested during sleep, and he answers that no, they aren't, because sleep mirrors what the mind does when awake, and if anything, the eyes are very busy in sleep: that's something I don't think I've heard any mainstream MD speak of, or seem to have awareness of...that "rest" means resting the mind, which then affects the muscles around the eyes, and the person's way of accomodating (to stress). c
You'll be happy to know the latest research of a few months back verified that Bates was correct, closing the eyes does NOT rest the eyes.
Something trippy for ya. For ten years after getting my full sight back with Bates. I would get a vision exam once a year at work because I used a microscope on a regular basis. She would test for short sightness and make the comment that I must be near sighted because I did so well. Then she would do the far sighted test.....she would hesitate because she wanted to say I must be far sighted because I did so well, but had remembered that she told me I was near sighted.
This would happen every year.
The peripheral vision test was excellent as well. But my eyes happen to be farther apart than most people. (Having to adjust my microscope's eyepieces further apart every time someone else used my scope, proves this) So I can't say for sure how much Bates had to do with this....;-)
Sigh....then I got lazy. Bummer.
But I'm hoping to get rid of the glasses within a couple of years. I need to do other things to the bod first because of my age.
Enjoy,
