Re: moving on

Sorry to see you go, although I would reread the previous posts (if I were you) as there is a lot of truth there for you to see.

This is important for you to know. I don't know how much you have learned or knew about the different Alternative Medicine systems before you started, but from your post it sounds like you don't know very much about the conventional method you are about to try either.

I would caution you to ask and find out from your oncologist how many patients he has already treated with Gleevec, WHO WERE DIAGNOSED WITH YOUR PARTICULAR CONDITION, and ask him if you could talk to them/some/one regarding how they felt about their therapy. How many have passed the 5 year mark after stopping therapy?

I urge you to find these things out before you go much further down this road, if you don't know, otherwise you will be in the dark as to where you will end up healthwise. Walking in the dark where the only person who knows what to expect over a certain period of time is your oncologist and not you too, is not wise at all. Blind trust between you and another stranger (oncologist) when your life will be at stake will have a poor result. (This is not a trust relationship like between a parent and his child.)

You have taken his (oncologist's) word it will work and so far have felt a reduction in pain, so he must have some evidence as to what it will do for you (otherwise he would not have recommended it). So ask him for the evidence (ask for a copy of the study he is using).

Get more information about it, you'll feel better knowing what to expect (like what side effects did his patients have--all this would be in the study as part of the information the pharmaceutical company gives oncologists. You'll be better prepared as to what accomodations/interuptions need to be made/anticipated.

If you already did some reading on the internet on Gleevec and brought up Gleevec yourself as a therapy idea, don't forget to check CureZone for a chemotherapy forum where you can post your progress (or important information from a Gleevec clinical study). It seems I saw something like it some time ago and I think that's what it was called.

(When you acquire an understanding that Gleevec will kill the cancer but will leave you vulnerable to getting cancer again when you go off it because your immune system will still be weak, I hope you consider non toxic treatments from the field of Alternative Medicine once again.) :)
