I'm a night owl with adrenal fatigue also. I've heard from people that melatonin helps in getting to sleep at night with no drowsiness in the morning. I like 5 HTP myself and take 50 mg before bed. I like 5 HTP the best. It helps to get to sleep but doesn't make you too drowsy (like say, benedryl which makes me pass out, drooling..) and I awake clear headed in the morning. It is also used for Depression and weight loss.
I have adrenal problems (*STRESSFUL LIFE*) and have been taking gotu kola for 3 weeks (Shelley says feeds adrenals) and noticed a calmer, more clear headed feeling with its use.
I've found gotu kola more helpful than even the acute stress homeopathic concoction my chiropractor gave me.
Still have a hard time getting to bed before midnight though...its my ON time....I feel my best at night...its challenging to change that behavior. I'm working at it.
