I was being specific to teeth that have been root canaled;
The fact is that its near impossible not to have a bacterial growth (focal infection) in root canaled teeth as there are miles of small tubules in the tooth; once the root canal is performed and the top is sealed, oxygen is unavailable in the dead tooth and this causes a shift in metabolism of aerobic bacteria into anaerobic; these bacteria proliferate in those small tubules, releasing few of the most dangerous organic toxins. These chemicals easily reach the blood stream and create numerous symptoms.
It's never a good idea to have necrotic tissue "rotting" in your mouth so it would be best to remove root canals
