i assure you, without the animals, the way of life i lived would not have been possible. i grossed $600 dollars one year. i walked everywhere and did everything by hand. that is living close to the bone. it was all a trade-off. and i was aware of others who ran a hundred miles of trapline on snowmachine and trapped hundreds of lynx and marten when the lynx brought 100-500 and a marten 30-60. this was not a sport for me - it was a way of life, one that is now almost impossible. i tell you this, i know what a person needs to live and it isnt much at all. it certainly isnt what most people think they require today.

btw, i killed a bull moose once with a knife while my friend held his head back by his 44 inch spread. he would not give up otherwise. it was the last time i hunted and took game. that was 1986.
