Re: Raw Food Equipment and recipes
I was wondering what raw food equipment you might already have. I have a Norwalk Juicer (30+ years old, but still works) that makes the best "raw ice cream". The Champion juicer will make it also. Prior to getting my juicer, I used my Vitamix to make "slushies" with fruits and ice, or orange juice and frozen bananas. Not the same texture as ice cream, but sometimes it was enough to keep me out of the freezer.
My 10 yr. old son actually prefers my banana or banana/mango "ice cream" to the store bought stuff. I'm having a harder time convincing my 5 yr old daughter.
We made a dessert in the Vitamix tonight that you could make in a blender. We first made nutmilk (water/soaked almonds), then added 2 ripe bananas and 3 frozen bananas. I put a few tablespoons of raw carob and then added some tahini. I didn't measure the ingredients, but I played with it until it was a choconut banana shake. The kids are drinking it now, and LOVE it.
So, until you can get more equipment, maybe you can find some "substitutes" for your cravings using what you have.
