Re: Modifying the cleanse?

The Master Cleanse has enough flexibility to give people some wiggle room with regards to when to drink the lemonade etc. I do feel, for me, it was good to do it by the book especially the first time. I may experiment this summer with adding a few extras like wheatgrass implants and some liquid vitamins and add some other healing teas but that amount of straying from the original protocol would probably make my fast something unique to me. For a first timer, it is a good idea to do it the way it was meant to be done and then you have somewhat of a standard from which to deviate.

A lot also depends on your goals. I did my flush for cleansing my intestinal system and not specifically for weight loss. After 30 days, I was still getting debris out which suggested I needed deeper cleansing. Having done it by the book though did feel reassuring that I had done what I should have and that the problem was not the cleanse but that I had more work to do. The point being that the maximum effects & benefits are relative to the degree of *sheet* your system is carrying and the effectiveness of juggling the lemonade, water, SWF, tea and other things which will either enhance the process or just be status quo.

I did modifications which did not involve taking something orally. I used my chi machine to help facilitate the SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) working better. I used my inversion table to help my lymph system as well as the trampoline for the same purpose. Body brushing is an excellent way to help facilitate the movement of lymph and thus detoxing.

Massage and Epsom Salt baths and salt rubs were other things I did to say YES to myself and my body. I used essential oils for cravings and to deal with emotional shifts which came up. Music and dance and exercise were important to fill in time. I enjoyed using inspirational DVDs and CDs to occupy my mind. Most importantly, for me, reading in the archives was the number one way I found encouragement and fortitude to stay the course.

I also found making the lemonade up once a day for the whole day was very helpful and made it easy to grab a bottle instead of trying to talk myself out of doing another day. I added cayenne per glass since it gets hotter in the bottle or glass the longer it sits...

Blessings on your healing path,
Zoe

ps. what would the world of Master Cleansing be like without a tongue scraper and straws!!!
