I've done a lot of fasting (60 days last summer) and work out every day. An excellent strategy is to take 1 T. BLACKSTRAP molasses before (and after if you like) working out. This is recommended by Burroughs for diabetics fasting, and can give you a heavy duty pick-me-up whenever you need one.
Either chase it with lemonade, or I like to dissolve it in a cup of hot water and drink like tea. Either way, it will give you that extra energy.
Sometimes just an extra tablespoon of maple will do the trick.
