A large proportion of the population have Gallstones in the gallbladder, which are usually found during scans for other medical problems. In many people they don't cause any problems, but sometimes they obstruct the opening of the gallbladder as this results in a very uncomfortable stitch like pain. If the gallbladder struggles to contract, it can also cause inflammation of the gallbladder lining and this results in a burning pain, this can usually be detected with a blood test that shows elevated C-reactive protein (CRP). Mostly the obstruction clears itself, but sometimes it can be too large and this cause unpredictable digestive problem.
