Well it finally happened.... I "broke." Earlier this morning, I was actually feeling okay when I woke up and hopeful I'd be able to make it, but then the pain came back and I was constantly gagging and nearly vomiting that I just couldn't stand it any longer. I broke with sliced
Watermelon and small helping of eggs (which I probably shouldn't have eaten as it's too heavy, but I felt like I had no choice as they fell and smashed and I didn't want them to go to waste) and boy, was it the most cathartic amazing feeling. Especially the watermelon. It just exploded with flavor and I felt like I was drunk.
While I'm extremely disappointed in myself for succumbing to the constant stomach pains and giving in when I planned to go longer, I'm at least happy I reached my initial original goal which was 7 days/a week.
Now I know that Day 4, 5, and 6 are the hardest and the days I feel the most pain. Day 1 is just resisting the urge to eat. Day 2 is probably the easiest day and the one where I feel the most energy. Day 3 starts to get painful, but it's tolerable and then Day 4 is when all hell breaks loose.
I appreciate the advice from the two of you and will keep it in mind when I try another fast and maybe it'll make things a lot easier. I hear that the longer a person fasts, the easier it tends to get as the body gets used to the experience and I hope that's the case for me the next time I jump into it.
