Re: Breaking fast with GAPS diet

WS has answered quite well to your question. I like to add...

How you break your fast depends on how many days one has been fasting, 1-7 days you do not need to worry too much about what you eat after a fast, but always good to start low build slow.

Fasts more than 7 days should be broken with acidic fruit juices and then whole fruit, vegetable juices then salads and so on. Salads without oils and other salad dressings. Lemon is the best on salads. Make sure all foods are organic. Your body has not produced bile, so fats will come out undigested.

Then I follow a rule of eating raw for 1.5 X the number of days of my fast. So 14 days fast means 21 days of raw fruits and vegetables, you want your body to go to basics of getting all micronutrients from raw foods.

After that period if you can stay on raw foods, great, if not eat some cooked foods and then stay on Fats and probiotic diet.

Good wishes.
