Lugol's Solution skin, staining

Ok... yesterday my package with Lugol's solution arrived and I wanted to test whether it also helps against the new herpes blisters that showed up yesterday morning on my lower lip. Well, an then I started to apply it all over my fac, on little scars, on small pimples, moles and such.

It was burning but somehow comfortably burning and tolerable.

But... now I have coloured spots all over my face. Some of them are even gray/black. It is not the Iodine itself that is left, but the skin looks rather burned and red, as if it were infected.

Will it leave marks? Will it disappear? How long does it take until these marks disappear?

And... it is not an allergic reaction. I also applied it to other parts of my skin (legs, hands, underarms and nothing happened) it just seems that my facial skin reacted so sensitive to it.

I need to go to work tomorrow and I was truly shocked when I woke up this morning. I don't even know if I can cover them with make up. That is not the worst part, but I am somehow scared that it will leave permanently discoloured marks on my face.

It is meant for topical use and even written on the bottle so I really did not expect something like this to happen :(

Now the marks are still there...
