Why did DHEA supplements increased testosterone but DHEA is extremely low still?

Hi All,
I had a hormone saliva test done 8 months ago which indicated that my testosterone levels were low normal and my DHEA levels were very low. I had the test done again and got the results yesterday which says that my testosterone levels are very high but my dhea levels are even lower than before. How could that be? I know that DHEA supplementation can raise testosterone, but why has my DHEA levels decreased. I stopped taking DHEA 2 months ago because I heard that it should not be taken long term. Any advice on what I can take to increase dhea, without increasing testosterone would be appreciated.

Also, I should mention that I had low progesterone, so I've been taking progesterone cream which has brought my levels to normal (even though I don't feel all that better)

I am waiting to receive the results for a neurotransmitter and thyroid test I had done.
