Re: Magnificat...

M: Re-read my post... I said if GODS HEART is moved by such a person they would be saved. Is this not the Grace of God? The person drowning wasn't even trying to buy their way into heaven... That being said yes sincerity, genuineness, and good works play a role into getting into heaven. Looks like your pastor has kept more theology from you that I am going to have to prove to you.

Your in such a hurry to make me wrong you are not reading my posts thoroughly. You essentially agreed with me, followed your hearts desire to insult Catholics.

V: I am reading your posts thoroughly and I think I am getting what you are saying just fine. And no my heart's desire is not to insult Catholics, but to lead people away from that false religion.

No, the grace of God is not saving someone that is doing good works because he was moved by that, whether they were trying to be saved by the good works or not. God's heart is moved by the perfect life of obedience and death of his son on behalf of the sheep and his grace is giving us this gift of salvation by no merit of our own.

M: You show me where in scripture it says by faith alone you are saved and I will convert to Protestantism on the spot! Haha!

V: Ephesians 2:
8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

This passage says it all so simply. We are saved by grace through faith, and that is not our own doing! No boasting! And this great God not only saves us by his grace through faith, but he also, in his grace, gives us the privilege of walking in good works that He himself, NOT US!, has prepared beforehand. And that last part is what James is talking about when he says faith without works is dead, because for all those that are saved by grace through faith, God's got some stuff for them to do. They are not their own, but His, His workmanship, and his grace is going to be moving in them until the end.

Phil. 2:13
for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

1 Cor. 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.

M: God Bless... Keep struggling to prove me wrong, you will learn something yet!

V: God Bless you too! I always learn in these debates. That's why I do it. :)
