Re: Myrrh for Trematodes (Flukes/Fasciola)

That's good to know about the resin...what brand are you using?

"What we consider "essential oils" are simply the oils from a plant but we typically label them as "essential" when they have powerful medicinal properties."

Technically, essential oils are not actually oils, but volatile organic compounds. Olive oil, coconut oil, canola oil, peanut oil --- all of these are true oils, also known as Base, Carrier or Fixed Oils. Essential "oil" is a bit of a misnomer and i think that's what confuses people and leads them to a false sense of security when using them. If we were to refer to lavender essential oil as lavender volatile compound instead it might cut down on the confusion because 'volatile' doesn't sound as innocent as 'essential'. I think the term 'essential oil' was probably created for marketing purposes. Fixed oils are true oils. Essential oils are not.

I love essential oils and wish there were more studies on how their therapeutic compounds can be used to treat illness, infection, etc, but there is no monetary gain for the researchers since you can't patent nature. I appreciate you appointing yourself guinea pig though! Please keep us posted! We may discover that our bodies can withstand a greater amount of EOs for therapeutic use than originally thought.
