Re: Myrrh for Trematodes (Flukes/Fasciola)

The resin is far less powerful than the essential oil. The resin has only 6% essential oil in it.

So be sure not to equate the essential oil with the resin quantities.

I agree that many essential oils are taken in far lower quantities. I saw documentation that 12 drops of sage oil or greater was considered toxic.

Essential oils should be taken seriously. No one should read what I do and copy it without doing their own research ever. I'm not recommending what I do. I'm simply reporting on it.

Every single time I take a substance I search "substance name" and "toxicity" to find the studies on its toxicity.

I caution that everyone should do the same.

For some essential oils, one tiny drop could kill you (unadulterated castor oil with ricin). Other oils are harmless (olive oil). What we consider "essential oils" are simply the oils from a plant but we typically label them as "essential" when they have powerful medicinal properties. Where something has powerful medicinal properties, they are also often dangerous and toxic.

The moral of the story is oil that comes from a plant can be highly toxic or relatively mild. Those labeled essential are more likely to be highly toxic. So be cautious and be warned.
