Taking Iodine Without Extra Selenium
I'm going to try a new experiment with the
Iodine and report back the results.
My thyroid pain and difficulties with speaking did not begin until I added selenium to the regimen. I get about 55mcg from my diet and added in about 150mcg from a supplement. As soon as I did this, I began having nearly uncontrollable muscle twitching at night and I began having problems speaking and tightness in the throat.
I cut out the
Iodine and the selenium for a day and all these problems went away. No muscle twitching or speaking issues. Yesterday, I added in the selenium but no iodine. I felt a few pains in my thyroid area and the muscle twitching came back.
Before I added in the selenium, I felt warm, energetic, muscle pain was diminished, and my digestion improved significantly (before Iodine, I routinely got nauseous from eating).
I wonder if I just simply don't need the extra selenium and my body was reacting to that instead of the iodine.
So, I'm going to try the 50mg luugol's dose without any extra selenium (only the 55mcg I get from my food) and see what happens.
