Re: Passover: The 7 Feasts of Israel and Jesus
"How are you born of the Spirit?"
1 Peter 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, HE HAS CAUSED us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
John 3:8
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
God controls the wind. God controls who is born of the Spirit. We do not control either of these things.
We don't have to understand all the details of how all this works. We are just called to trust God, repent and believe. And when we believe in Him, we know we are born again, we know we are washed by the blood of Jesus. All that Christ has done and accomplished for us, comes by the means of faith, not by works. And faith too is a gift. The bible says he is the author and finisher of our faith:
Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Titus 3:4-7
4But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Colossians 2:13
13And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Galatians 3:
1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. 2Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?
Paul is saying here, that the Galatians received the Spirit, how? By hearing with faith. But they were obviously going astray. Why? They were turning back to the Law to be sanctified, or perfected. And Paul says no, that's not how you are sanctified or perfected. They were born again by the Holy Spirit, and by the Holy Spirit they would be sanctified.
Romans 15:
14I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another. 15But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God 16to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 17In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. 18For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, 19by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; 20and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, 21but as it is written,
“Those who have never been told of him will see,
and those who have never heard will understand.”
