Re: Reaction to licorice root - how long do side effects last?

My understanding is that licorice is tricky and better used for temporary "stress dosing" during especially draining times.

There are so many adverse reactions to "herbal" supplements such as licorice, especially in chemically sensitive folks. I really think it is wise to start with low doses and work up. This is especially true of things related to cortisol levels. The body needs some time to adapt to the new levels. Eventually you might find the same doses work great after your body has had time to adjust.

I'm not claiming to know the source of the problem in your case but I would not be surprised if there are similarities to this woman who foolishly started with excessively high doses of HC! A Cutler--detox consultant, PhD chemist--comments here.

That young female member of yahoo FDC is still active and available if you want to chat with her to compare symptoms. She is doing somewhat better now but I think she still has an unhelpful tendency to impulsively try things before coming up with a solid plan.
