Re: I have only limited knowledge

Hi Soulful, glad you are joining us. What you seem to be talking about is spirituality. Where everyone believes what they want to...the way they want to.

A biblical christian will base their spirituality on what the Holy Spirit's interpretation of what the word of God says in the bible. They believe in what God wants and the Way He wants us to go. We are given free will, but it's more for the use of teaching us the difference between good and evil. If we are wise we soon learn that everything God tells us is the right way, where as our ways are normally not. Just like children learn, except we have a perfect parent to show us correctly every time.

The most important thing He (inspired)wrote about was salvation. Without it, people can not find everlasting life, even if they are good people and do well to others. Searching scripture and prayer helps us learn about the attributes of Christ which is God.

The problem we find is that people are not looking for the Christ in the old testament. They are only looking for God the Father. So they do not associate that both have the same attributes.

Jesus was given a glorified body, which is not like other spiritual entities. It's a body that will live forever. The same type that we are promised if we follow Him. He can look just as human and solid as you and I if He wishes to be...yet He can walk through walls without even opening a door.

Jesus is in heaven now and the Holy Spirit is with us on earth. However, the difference is some people think Jesus will not return one day. They think He is already here residing within us....which is part truth. In Spirit He is, but He is in heaven preparing a place for those that wish to believe and partake of what He has offered.

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control are all part of our journey to learn by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We still have free will which means we are not forced by the Spirit. We should allow the Spirit to teach us and obey what we learn. We still have forgiveness when we fail. If we love God we would want to try and do better and be a better person, just like you say.
