Re: Did Jesus claim to be God?
Thankyou for your thoughts SWA, only I put this to you my friend. What you say about Christ is true but imagine this.
If I approached a true Muslim in their land and suggested what you say, do you actually think they would believe your Christian faith?
The people whom I met at that time would not tell me that I was wrong in my faith as a Christian but only say how they as Muslims see it.
They see Jesus as a prophet as much as we see Muhammad as their prophet.
They would not see Jesus as in the Holy Trinity (God) for what would we see Muhammad as in the light of all things.
They would tell me that Allah is God. If I said that Jesus is God I would run for cover.
There are many Christians that do not believe in the Holy Trinity those that do are so-called Trinitarians, I find that strange.
You say, "Unfortunately, that is the human condition, we are born into flesh, which is a state of sin, but we also have divine potential and it all depends what we will gravitate towards."
That is so true, and yes dogma, culture, but remember this both Jesus and Muhammad were "men" the only difference is we see Jesus as the Son of Man do you know if Muslims "see" Muhammad in the same light?
No, I don't believe they do.
"Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things." S. 33:40
Jesus said:
‘Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, "Show us the Father"? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.’" John 14:9-11
I totally believe that, but I will not see Muslims any other way that they themselves see.
Yes I agree there is a state of delusion and darkness but I feel this separation does not help anyone and it's extremists on both sides that bring us the darkness.
Living among Muslims has taught me this for they suffer equally.
Genesis 1:27 ESV
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
It is man that divides us not God.
