Ashwagandha - extract vs whole herb extract vs whole herb

It's hard to say exactly what they are doing to it when they are extracting it. Always better to use the whole herb. Banyan Botanitcals makes a very good Ashwagandha tablet that is not an extract, they also sell it in powder form. My personal experience with Ashwagandha was not good; I believe that ashwagandha caused me to very quickly go from hypo-thyroid to hyper-thyroid. Certainly, it is good for some people and not for others. Personally, I much prefer the herb Shankapushpi, it has all of the same anti-stress properties as ashwagandha without causing the thyroid to go into overdrive, much more gentle, although if you are trying to increase energy levels, shankapushpi will probably not have an immediate benefit, but over time will help.
