Ashwagandha - extract vs whole herb extract vs whole herb

I read somewhere on here that it is better to take the whole herb rather than extracts. The person who said it distinguished between "whole herb extract" vs "extracting one substance". How do I determine if a product is a whole herb extract? In particular, I am talking about the Jarrow Formulas Ashwagandha.

I have been taking this for a couple months, and feel better. I have more energy and feel more balanced. For the past 1.5 weeks though, I have had troubles sleeping because it feels like there is something at the back of my throat/nose. At first I did not think it was the ashwagandha, but after trying a few other things, I did not see any improvement. Searching for side effects to ashwagandha, I saw that a tight throat can be a symptom. Not sure if it is the same thing, not sure that it is even the ashwagandha. But I would like the continue getting the benefits that I do attribute to ashwangandha, while minimizing the risk of side effects. Does this product qualify as a whole herb? (it is said to use both roots and leaves Should I look into an ashwagandha powder that is not extracted in any way?
