Potassium Chloride is also used in Water Softeners. I just went to Wiki where that info has nearly disappeared.

A bit of education on 'Kationenaustausch' is of value here since the ion exchange of a water softener is similar to the human battery: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_softening#Regeneration_of_ion_exchange_resins

NOTE: KCL has been nearly lost in that article.. now who controls wiki..
