Re: Aircraft carrier model to prophetically represent...

Thanks for your response Vektek. I hope you are well. I can tend to be close-minded but it is something that I work on to keep my mind open to the possibilities of things that God has not shown me through the Holy Spirit. I used to be open to the fact that there could be no God but everything in my life pointed me to the fact that there is a God, that is faith as it always starts, then through the Holy Spirit, I have experienced the fact that there is indeed a God, then there is no more need for faith, it is just a fact, but I can never impart that fact to another person because it was through my faith (through the grace of God), that I was able to receive this knowledge. Once, I know this, there is no more need to be open-minded about the possibility of God not existing. The same goes for most of my core beliefs in the gospel, including Christ being the savior and other fundamental beliefs. However, there are many, many facets of Christianity of which I am not completely certain. Yes, there are some areas that are quite clear, there are some areas that we can look to the scriptures and get a definite answer, but even then it depends on our own understanding of the scriptures, hence all the debate within Christianity. One person states their opinion backed by scripture and they are 100% certain of their correctness. Another person states the complete opposite opinion, backed up by another scripture and they are 100% certain of their correctness. But they can't both be right. It is only when we are open to the possibility that our belief is not 100% accurate in every single aspect of the gospel that we have the capacity to allow God to teach us something, either through prayer or through another dedicated servant of God.

Remember when you taught me a very important doctrine a couple of weeks ago that I didn't want to accept? I had my own opinion formed in my mind and it was very difficult for me to try to receive anything that went against my current thinking, but through the grace of God, I was able to open up a little possibility that perhaps my thinking is incorrect, let me give it to God and see what He shows me, and because I was able to be open-minded (even just the tiniest bit), I was able to receive the truth into my heart.

I know that you do search the scriptures and pray for understanding and if you feel that you have received conformation from God on a certain topic, such as that there will be no Apostles in our day, I can't argue with that. I'm just saying on any given topic, not just you but all of us, should try to be open to the possibility that we do not have a complete perfect understanding, until we receive certainty on the subject from God.
