Re: Aircraft carrier model to prophetically represent...
Saywhatagain, I don't get your argument about closed mindedness. Are you not closed minded on anything? What about the idea of whether there is a God or not? Someone could say you are closed minded because you believe there is a God and are not open to believing there is not a God.
So yes, I definitely have areas where I am closed minded. I am closed minded that Jesus is the only savior. I am closed minded that it's by grace alone through faith alone that we can be saved. I am closed minded that the NAR is a dangerous movement filled with dangerous people. I've seen all the evidence I need to see about the NAR to make a closed minded decision on that. And I am closed minded that there are no new Apostles as with a capital A, as in the ones that wrote the scriptures and laid the foundation of the church. I've seen all the biblical evidence I need to see and all the evidence outside scripture that I need to see, such as the kinds of people that dare to call themselves an Apostle as in the Apostle John, or the Apostle Paul. Those Apostles laid the foundation of the church, and God spoke directly through them to write the scriptures. We do not need anymore new revelations today. The scriptures are sufficient for everything we need. We don't need anyone else saying "Thus saith the Lord" and so we don't need anymore capital A Apostles. You can say that is closed minded if you want to but I am very thankful to be closed minded in all these areas I just said because it's going to save me from being deceived by all these false apostles that are rising up deceiving thousands by the day. But what if I'm wrong? So what? I'm listening to and following the greatest Apostle of all, Jesus Christ.
Ed has opened his mind up to the idea of capital A Apostles being for today and now he is recommending us to follow the leadings of false apostles.
What people don't understand is that just because God did things a certain way in the past, doesn't mean he always does it that way. God doesn't ever change, he's the same yesterday, today, and forever, but his ways of doing things change according to his purposes. In the Old Testament we read how the people were required to do animal sacrifices for sin. Well why are we not doing those today? Because Christ became our ultimate, once and for all, sacrifice so that the animal sacrifices were no longer needed. Why are we under a New Covenant and not the Old Covenant? Read about all the changes that took place between the Old and New Covenant.
The capital A Apostles had a specific purpose for a specific time. They were to lay the foundation of the church and complete the scriptures. We don't need the foundation of the church laid over and over and over. That would make no sense. So those Apostles had a very important, unique role, to lay that foundation and now the rest of the church is to be built on that foundation. All the revelation we needed was given in the laying of that foundation and now we build from there, and we grow in grace and truth from there.
2 Tim. 3:16 says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
So why do we need these "New Apostles" going around saying "Thus saith the Lord" and bringing all this new revelation when it says right there in that scripture that we have everything we need to be perfect and thoroughly furnished unto all good works? What else do we possibly need?
I have Jesus, my Lord and savior whom God sent to die for me and be everything I need. I have the Holy Spirit who guides me, comforts me, convicts me, and reveals the scriptures to me. And at times in my life, I have had good pastors that I have learned from. But I haven't always had this, and honestly, I was okay either way.
I certainly have not been lacking in my life because I didn't have a modern day Apostle revealing something else that was essential for my life or one kicking me in the face.
