Also when we read about Thomas, who was an Apostle, refused to believe without direct personal experience. He doubted someone like Jesus could rise from the dead. We read in the bible about his eyes being opened....finally. Would Thomas or others had doubted if he/they believed beforehand that Jesus was God?
This scripture also tells us how blessed those that have not seen Him (that would be people like us) yet believe without waiting to see His nail scarred hands.
John 20:24-29
Jesus Appears to Thomas
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
May we pray and ask God to reveal the truth, for we don't want to wait until Jesus returns for Him to have to show us His nail scarred hands in order to know who He is. May we be of the "blessed" that have not seen, yet believe.
Zechariah 13:6
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
