Re: Doc put me on Synthroid

I understand we have an ingrained desire to trust doctors but at the end of the day you have to understand that the medicine tought and practiced at the beginning of the 19th centruy where things were treated with nutrients is long gone. Today its all about drugs and knowing what drug to prescribe for what problem and in turn what drug to prescribe to fix the side effects of previous drug prescribed.

Long gone are the days where a basic understanding of how the body functions and addressing the shortfalls by giving it what it needs.

t the end of the day your body NEEDS Iodine along with all the other essential nutrients. Short your body of just 1 and you will have problems manifest and worsen with time. Its nearly impossible to get all the nutrients we need from food alone these days. Food sources are poor and toxin exposure high which destroys nutrients at an alarming rate.

Why would I need a doctor to monitor my thyroid function? They have NOTHING of value. Im the one with the symptoms, I can get lab tests done myself at a private lab so why on earth would I pay for a doctors office visit?

I use my symptoms as a guide, if your temp is low that will be just one of many things to judge your progress.

The biggest thing people have to realize is that by the time deficiency symptoms manufest and become bad enough to drive us to seek medical help we have been deficient for a long time. Usually not in a single nutrient either but many. Unlike drugs which can take effect in days or weeks, when you are treating yourself for nutritional deficiencies it can take a long time for things to reverse. Your stores need to be built up and then the damage due to deficiency can be reversed (in many cases if ignored too long can be permanent, especially where B vits are concerned).

Your lab work means virtually nothing because it compares you to a population but your not a population your an individual. The only numbers that matter are your own historical numbers for you to compare to.
