I don't think you sound insensitive. I really appreciate your words, for I was also thinking along the same lines concerning how it would look to the Abuser's lawyer.
Being in Canada, however, with the medical coverage we have, it wouldn't cost me a cent to go into the hospital, so that'd not be a hindrance. Psychiatric visits are covered, I think, too, but hard to get an appointment with one. Psychologists aren't covered unless you have extended medical through a private company. I have no income right now, being in a difficult pregnancy and unable to work (who'd hire a pregnant woman anyway?). I am, however, doing some study courses to improve my likelihood of getting work I like, and with a decent income rather than taking some ol' job that I don't have my heart in and scrape by at minimum wage.
