Re: Seepage pit not seeping

Finally have access to the pit--it was five feet down, with a very large pre-cast concrete top with a small access hole plugged with a brick. Now there is a 6 inch PVC access pipe to the surface. The pit is stacked cinder block surrounded by rock/gravel likely with a dirt bottom. I have not yet measured the current depth (it originally was 12 feet deep x 13 feet wide). Will measure the depth of the pit tomorrow. The pipe between the pit and tank appears to be flowing well based on the rapid flow-back from the full pit when the tank was pumped. Don't yet know if the output baffle is still there (no easy way to see as the access at that end of the tank is buried five feet down), but no signs of floating solids in the pit.

The pit was completely full of water and the tank is now near full again and about to backup again. I will pump out some of the pit to give some relief to the tank until I figure next steps.

What are the next steps? Hydrogen peroxide? Does it work in the long-term? I think in grizz's blog that solution stopped working after a short while. What is my long-term solution? It is 50 years old--can the pit really be "fixed" or do I bite the bullet and invest in new trenches? More questions/tests for me?

Thanks.
