Re: Hemochromatosis in relation to zinc, copper, and iodine..

I also have hemochromatosis and at some point around 30 years of age candida struck heavily, along with acid reflux (barrets esophogas so quite serious), brain fog, poor memory, tiredness, etc.

I went gluten free (coconut oil helps a lot to kill the candida), and the acid reflux was practically gone in 2 weeks.

However it was only when I started giving blood and got my ferritin down to below 100 (it was originally around 300) that my symptoms totally improved. I believe the candida feeds off the high iron.

I also thought my symptoms were a zinc deficiency, got tested and was a little low but not serious. Supplements gave an energy boost but can lead to hyperactivity.

Strongly recommend gluten free and managing your ferritin levels by giving blood - that seemed to make all the difference for me.
