Re: Serotonin
Hi, I understand your point about psychotherapy. It can be a waste of time for some people...
I have had anxiety & ADD from childhood. I developed EC at 23 and I've had it off and on for over 20 years. i take an antidepressant and just started Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I think that anxiety is chemical as well as psychological. I take supplements and medication for the chemical imbalance but I also have mental techniques learned from psychotherapy to help me every time my EC anxiety occurs.
I find that re-patterning or re-training the mind has helped me start to overcome my anxiety symptoms. I strongly believe in "neuroplasticity" for the brain. Consider this quote:
"Brain plasticity works in positive and negative ways for us. If you have been anxious for years, your brain structures and the neural pathways and neurochemistry associated with experiencing anxiety STRENGTHEN, while the structures, pathways and chemistry involved in feeling relaxed and secure WEAKEN, so you become better at experiencing anxiety and less able to experience calm."
It would really be nice to be cured of EC…anxiety would be diminished to a point.
