Re: To Tena Cious and Faith
110 re Nutritional Balancing
Hi Faith:
Thank you for taking the time for this lengthy and detailed reply. I really appreciate it. I am so sorry you had to suffer, and needlessly. I am deeply grateful that you cared enough to share your experience so as to spare me going through more hell than I've already gone through.
I did call Dr. Rick Malter today, whom Tena mentioned as having worked with Marie, and that she was satisfied with him. We had a good conversation and I have decided I'd go with him, once it is time for my next hair test in about 5 weeks' time. It will also be considerably less money to go with a consultant who is using the TEI protocol rather than the ARL. I like the less-aggressive approach that he talked about, and he seemed to really know his stuff. I have been making myself a lot worse, unwittingly, by taking a high dosage of liquid Vitamin D3 (8-9 drops daily, at 2,000 mg per drop--the formula from Life Extension Foundation, but there are other manufacturers of similar compounds), which he said is making my insomnia worse because it is imbalancing my Calcium/Magnesium ratio even worse than it is (and it is extreme: 21.22, when it should be 6.67, according to ARL). This is because Vitamin D3 makes magnesium level go down, which is making the skewed ratio even worse (Ca is 191.0; Mg is 9.) it is 318% of ideal. I have the "four highs" pattern. My Na (sodium) to Mg is also way out of balance: 19.44, when 4.17 is normal. My Na:K (sodium:potassium) is 7.29, when 2.50 is normal--292% of ideal. And lastly my Ca:P (calcium:phosphorus) is 13.64, when 2.50 is normal, so it is 546% of normal. I have not had normal sleep in many years, but it got way worse in 2007 when I experimented with
Iodine (per the
Iodine forum suggestions) and also I think it was due to a long fast I did, 30 days long, on orange juice and then
Watermelon juice, and also I think that is when I started using more Vit. D3. This is all throwing my thyroid off, according to Dr. Malter. I am having to go off D3 completely. He also warned me off the Paramin formula from ARL, and suggested that the Stress Pak formula might not be a bad idea to stop as well. So I'm just continuing with the other formulas that were recommended by the first NB consultant, until it's time for the next hair test in later March/early April, and I will start fresh with Dr. Malter. He thinks my primary problem is not my adrenals but my thyroid. but I do know that those two work hand-in-hand. All I know is that I am worse off than when I started NB, and I really did not need that. On top of that, I am taking care of my DH who has advanced Parkinsons and is needing more and more of my care. I of course am not blaming him for my stress and sleep issues, but it does exacerbate matters.
So again, thank you kindly for helping me with your response, and I do wish you all the best in your healing journey, and hope you are back to 100% very very soon. May we all be!
Blessings
