Re: Coffee Enema and weakness...electrolyte imbalance?
Hi Lajoanna! Yes - you can absolutely get electrolyte imbalances with coffee enemas. The Gerson Institute (experts in
coffee enema usage) confirms this. So, what can you do? Gerson recommends that you consume 3 raw juices for every one enema. You can go to their website for recipes. If you still feel weak, then try consuming foods or supplements that contain electrolytes before doing the enema: (2 Tbls raw nut butter for phosphorus and magnesium, 1/8-1/4 tsp salt, yogurt or supplement for calcium - calcium supplements usually contain magnesium, and 1 c coconut water or supplement for potassium. If you feel better doing any or all of these things, then you probably are encountering an electrolyte imbalance. Want to be certain? Then have your electrolytes checked immediately after your complete your enema. You can check labs through Direct Labs (they use Lab Corp for testing, so your tests are reliable). You don't need a doctor to order the test and you don't need an appointment. You can do everything online and the prices are very reasonable. But go in the morning so you can get in quickly. You'll want to do a Comprehensive Metabolic test and a Serum Phosphorus test. Unfortunately there are not reliable ways to test magnesium. So, you just have to go with how you feel. Also, electrolyte imbalances occur with different conditions, such as thyroid or kidney disorders and dysautonomia. An enema would certainly enhance the possibility of an imbalance. Hope this helps!
