Re: the 11pm adrenaline rush!
Excellent, Greg! There's nothing a good curry cannot cure! I banned the tv from the bedroom years ago. And didn't someone say you should orient your bed north-south?!
The point here is I chucked my sleep log long ago trying to find patterns, but I do know that my mind (and emotions) may be the missing link. I have AF because I came out of the womb revved, and it is still takes very little to get anxiety ramped up and feeding on itself. Having said that, it does feel like there are three or four days in ten when some excitatory neurotrasmitter(s) are running in the background and make it easier to have an outsized stress response to a small stimuli. When I was "well" (pre-symptomatic) I never noticed itching, now I am hyperaware of what I fancy to be histamine reactions to foods that never bothered me before. So what role is the mind playing in dragging out this repair job? NB conclusions that I am counter-intuitively high in copper give my anxiety something to coalesce around. But I will eventually test and report back.
Bach remedies actually help keep the emotions from getting board and looking for triggers...
Tenacious! I took Kavinace on an ND's recommendation. For those 7 or 8 days in 10 when nothing is revving in the background I have the deepest sleep with only one interruption (I have awakened around 4am for over 20 years now--I have had AF for 7-8 months) per night. The sleep is deep, the dreams are heightened, creative, and continuous all night. My recall of them is heightened. During the 3 revved nights Kavinace is not enough. The cocktail still works so it's not an all nighter but I wake up every 2 hours or more. But, and this is the point, I fall asleep within ten minutes each time. What is helping me ongoing? There is tuarine in kavinace. There is phosphatidyl serine, theanine, ashwagandha and Magnolia Bark in Cortisol Manager. The copper the acupuncturist who interpreted my hair analysis said was keeping me up should not follow a pattern of 3 days on 7 days off, which was my first tip off that NB is for some an off the shelf modality purchased by practitioners who lack nutritional grounding. Also C and zinc have no stimulating effect on me on those off-pattern days.
For now my prime suspect is glutamate along with self-induced cortisol/adrenaline from frustration. My base glutamate and evening cortisol is on the high side. So I am going to add Magnesium taurate and see what changes. Eliminate Benadryl, maybe reduce Phosphatidyl with evening C and Zinc which also lower cortisol.
