Re: Systemic Candida? Or not? (TMI w/ lady-details)

Very interesting and also discouraging post, lol

So, while you were waiting for the diet to kick in and make a difference, how did you control the yeast infection down there? Did anything at all make a difference?
And how long did you do everything right before you started to recover finally?

The gentian violet treatment is the next step of the specialist care. My dr said you go several times a week to be swabbed out with it for a period of time. He said he's had several patients that never responded to anything else respond to it.

I was planning on asking the dr about going back on daily diflucan, maybe at a higher dosage. The main problem I have with that is that it's $200/month for the prescription since I don't have extended health insurance. That on top of how expensive it is to eat these candida diet foods, and the expensive megaprobiotics, and that leaves me with pretty much nothing left. I'm trying to balance treatment with financial future planning. I will (finally) be out of debt in January, and then I was really looking forward to start building my now pathetic savings. But it is looking more and more like the treatment is going to keep me from being able to do that. Or travel, which has been my lifelong goal.

I'm also concerned about enemas - not because the idea freaks me out, but I often hear coffee enemas recommended and I can't tolerate caffeine. Even a little. Not even decaf or white tea. The meds I was on years ago made me hypersensitive to many substances, and the stimulant sensitivity has stuck with me even though I'm now 4 years off of them (can't have cold meds either).

Anyway - not trying to be a Debbie Downer. I totally understand that this isn't going to be easy. I'm just really trying to wrap my head around how I'm going to live (in the most practical sense) if I really have to start taking hundreds of dollars of supplements and treatments and such every single month forever.
