Re: Mirena side effects
Hi, I'm sorry to hear you have had a terrible experience with the Mirerna too. I ended up with a lot of the same symptoms as you and I have discovered the cause in my case, although it is still a long road back to health.
My symptoms were:
- Tinnitus
- Head pressure in various parts of my head
- Occasional vertigo.
- Sharp pains in various parts of my head and body.
- Muscle twitching and spasms including a spot in my back that "vibrated" after eating.
- Extreme anxiety.
- Lack of energy and brain fog.
- Stomach issues - Bloating/IBS.
- An intolerance to lots of foods that has gradually got worse and worse.
- Numbness in extremities when lying down.
- Frequent urination
- Itching deep inside ear and nose.
And the list could be much longer if I could be bothered!!
Anyway, in short, the fake progesterone in the Mirena had caused what was a low level (and previously undetected) case of
parasites (roundworm) and candida (yeast infection) to get very out of hand. These
parasites feed on the hormones (which is why ladies quite often get yeast infections just before their period is due). Everyone has
parasites and candid in their bodies to some extent, but the immune system keeps them in check most of the time. I've come across lots of other ladies who have been supplementing hormones (or taking a medication that effects hormones) and have ended up with a serious infection.
Do you have any symptoms like genital itching or discharge?
In my case, as horrible as this sounds, I have worms and candida in my sinuses and ears which has caused a lot of the head symptoms. I use a nebulizer several times a day to keep the candida in my sinuses under control.
The anxiety is caused by the toxins the parasites create, and the stress they are putting my body under. And the tiredness too.
I could go on and on about this, but in short there is any easy way to test if this is what is causing your problems. Sugar/food. Are your symptoms worse for a couple of hours after eating, especially a meal high in sugar/carbs? And at night time? That's when they like to come out to play. The itchy bumps definitely sound like some kind of
parasite to me.
I'm afraid if this is your problem it will take a while to fix and will mean going on a special diet, BUT all is not lost. If you are willing to put the effort in to get healthy it is very very curable. It's been two years since I had the Mirena out and although I am not 100% yet in many ways I feel much healthier than I did before I even put the Mirena in. Anyway, I've rambled enough for now, if you have any questions please get in touch. Unfortunately the medical profession is pretty useless when it comes to candida and parasites, but the forums on here are full of good information.
