Your post made me chuckle because the first day of my fast I mixed a large batch (as I knew I wouldn't be home in the afternoon) and miscalculated the pepper - I thought the first sip was going to take the lining of my esophagus with it! LOL I survived it - and was unwilling the throw it away. Instead I made ANOTHER batch and mixed them together - this time without the pepper! I'm one of those weirdos who also likes the taste of the juice.
It is my understanding that the pepper is not "necessary" to the fast, but has good benefits (mentioned by above poster). So I too recommend that you go slowly adding it and get used to it.
Even though I am home most everyday, I still mix a big batch in the morning. I am feeding three children throughout the day, and the less time I spend in the kitchen the better! I make my batch up and stick it in the fridge. Right now I'm using 12
oz. of water for each serving and drinking a total of 54
oz. of juice everyday, plus tons of water in between. I'm thinking of reducing the maple syrup content sometime next week. I figure I'll wait awhile before then since I plan to go the long haul on this thing (40 days) and I'm only on Day 4!! YIKES! ;^) (Give me strength!)
